Overview
PLZ Corp is committed to continually work toward a more sustainable society to realize long term environmental, social and economic benefits across our entire supply chain. This policy serves as a communication and improvement tool for both internal stakeholders and external supply partners when it comes to responsible and sustainable business conduct.
Sustainable Procurement Principles
PLZ Corp’s Sustainable Procurement Policy includes three sets of considerations. While these are principles based on which preference will be given, at this point, PLZ Corp does not necessarily mandate that our suppliers are required to follow.
PLZ Corp Requirement
Environment Considerations
- Where possible, we will give preference to suppliers who have an ESG policy with clear commitment to reduce waste across their entire operations, conserve natural resource and reduce green-house gas emissions
- Where possible, we will give preference to suppliers who have the necessary certifications from a 3rd party that can help PLZ assess our supplier’s commitment towards their ESG policy and compliance of appropriate laws
- Where possible, we will give preference to suppliers who provide packaging and shipping options that minimizes waste and maximize space efficiency to reduce environmental impacts.
- Where possible, when sourcing raw materials such as vegetable oil, we will give preference to suppliers that ensure their production does not lead to loss of natural ecosystems or biodiversity
- Where possible, we will give preference to suppliers who use renewable energy sources and other efficient use of energy sources
- Where possible, we will give preference to local suppliers to cut down on transport emissions
Social Considerations
- Where possible, we will give preference to suppliers with women-owned, diverse backgrounds and small businesses
Governance Considerations
- All suppliers must comply with PLZ Corp’s Supplier Code of Conduct governance portion.
- All suppliers must comply with necessary regulations such as PCR/EPR, PFAS NI etc., and must respond to such annual surveys conducted by PLZ. Where suppliers are not able to meet the requirement, PLZ will re-qualify other suppliers who can meet the requirement
- Applicable suppliers must comply and complete Conflict Minerals Survey and provide information in the CMRT Template format which is published in the PLZ website annually
Annual Evaluation of Suppliers
PLZ Corp maintains a list of “Grow” “Preferred” “Evaluate” and “Exit” suppliers as an output of the Category Management Process. We will perform Business Continuity Plan survey with our top 80% spend suppliers to identify risks and come up with necessary mitigation plans. In addition we also conduct quality site audits on as needed basis. All our audit questions do include topics pertaining to ESG.
Communication & Training
This policy will be communicated to both PLZ internal stakeholders and supply partners and all appropriate personnel will be communicated and trained. PLZ Corp Strategic Procurement team is responsible to ensure the policy is communicated and implemented with our Supply Partners.
